How to Set Up Your BuzzTV Android TV Box: Step-by-Step Guide

Just unboxed a new BuzzTV streaming box? Setup takes about ten minutes from plugging in to watching. This guide covers every BuzzTV Android box we carry — the X5, X5 AX-C, X5 SS, Classic Anniversary Edition, and the E5 SE.

What you'll need

• Your BuzzTV box, power adapter, and the included remote
• A TV with a free HDMI port
• Your Wi-Fi network name and password (or an Ethernet cable — recommended if your router is nearby)
• A Google account if you plan to install apps from the Play Store

Step 1: Connect the box to your TV

Plug the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the back of your BuzzTV box and into a free HDMI input on your TV. Connect the power adapter (newer models like the X5 SS, X5 AX-C, Classic Anniversary, and E5 SE use USB-C power). If you're using wired internet, connect the Ethernet cable to the Gigabit LAN port now.

Step 2: Power on and select the right input

Switch your TV to the HDMI input you used. You should see the BuzzTV boot screen within a few seconds. If the screen stays black, try another HDMI cable or port first — it's the most common culprit.

Step 3: Pair your remote

BuzzTV remotes connect over Bluetooth. During first-time setup the box will prompt you to pair — keep the remote close to the box and follow the on-screen instructions. If the remote ever stops responding later, check the batteries first, then re-pair it from the Bluetooth section of the settings menu.

Step 4: Connect to your network

Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter the password, or skip this step if you connected Ethernet. Two tips for the best wireless streaming: position the external antennas upright, and connect to your router's 5 GHz network when available. Wi-Fi 6 models — the X5 SS, X5 AX-C, and Classic Anniversary — hold noticeably steadier connections on busy home networks.

Step 5: Update the software

Before installing anything, let the box check for system updates in the settings menu and install whatever is available. Updates bring performance improvements and fixes, and it's much faster to do this first than after you've set everything up.

Step 6: Sign in and install your apps

Sign in with your Google account to access the Play Store and install your streaming apps. All current BuzzTV boxes run Android with 4GB of RAM, so switching between apps stays smooth.

Troubleshooting

Buffering or stuttering video. Switch to Ethernet if possible — the Gigabit LAN port on every BuzzTV box is the most reliable connection. On Wi-Fi, move to the 5 GHz band, reposition the antennas, or move the box closer to the router. If your household has many connected devices, a Wi-Fi 6 model makes a real difference.

Remote not responding. Replace the batteries, then re-pair from the Bluetooth settings. Line of sight isn't required for Bluetooth remotes, but very long distances and thick walls can interfere.

No picture. Confirm the TV is on the correct HDMI input, then try a different HDMI cable or port. HDMI-CEC is supported, so your TV remote's power and volume may also control the box once everything is connected.

Storage filling up. The X5 series includes a microSD slot plus USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports for expanding storage.
